Determination of Critical Micellar Concentration of CTAB in Mixed Medium of Water and Organic Solvent with Ion-Selective Electrode
摘 要
以十六烷基三甲基溴化铵-四苯硼为电活性物质制备了阳离子表面活性剂离子选择电极,并对其性能做了测定。结果显示该电极对阳离子表面活性剂十六烷基三甲基溴化铵(CTAB)具有良好的能斯特响应,线性响应范围为1×10-6~1×10-3mol·L-1。采用此电极测定CTAB在水/有机溶剂混合介质中的临界胶束浓度,测定值与电导法测定结果相符。极性有机溶剂的加入导致CTAB溶液的CMC增大,随着添加量增大,CMC逐渐增大;极性有机溶剂的介电常数越小,CMC越大。
Abstract
Ion-selective electrode (ISE) of cationic surfactant with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide-tetraphenylboron as electroactive substance, was prepared and its property tested. Good Nernst response of the ISE was observed against the cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide(CTAB)and linear response range of the ISE was kept in the range of 1×10-6-1×10-3mol·L-1. The electrode was used in the determination of critical micellar concentration (CMC) of CTAB in water/organic solvent mixed medium, the results obtained were consistent with those found by conductivity method. Magnitude of CMC of CTAB solution was increased by addition of polar organic solvent and increased to a greater extent upon addition of more organic solvent. Smaller the value of dielectric constant of the polar organic solvent added, greater will be the CMC value attained.
