Nondestructive testing method and application of China-Russia eastern natural gas pipeline

  • In this paper, the non-destructive testing methods, proportions and acceptance criteria of different welding methods specified in the domestic and international standard are compared and analyzed, and the typical engineering practices are collected and analyzed. Then, the NDT for special welds are recommended by simulation and field test. Finally, the non-destructive testing method for the main line of China-Russia Eastern Natural Gas Pipeline (Heihe-Changling) is determined: The general automatic girth weld is checked by the corresponding proportion of radiographic testing according to different location grades, and the role of RT is just to judge the AUT process, and whether the weld is qualified or not is determined according to GB/T 50818. For tie-in and repair weld, 100% (PAUT + TOFD) +100% RT may possibly be used, and for unequal wall thickness butt weld, 100% (PAUT + TOFD) +100% RT is recommended.
