    • Ion-trap gas chromatography in hyphenation with MS/MS (in series) was applied to the identification and determination of sudan I in foodstuffs.Linear relationship between the peak area and concentration of sudan I was obtained in the range of 0.045-0.90 mg·L-1 (r=0.999 0),with a detection limit of 0.004 5 mg·kg-1.Test for recovery was performed by addition of 0.008 mg·kg-1 of sudan I to samples of chilli oil and chilli sauce,and recoveries in the range 83.1%-103.2% were obtained.The proposed method was proved to have the specific features of simple in sample pre-treatment,high-sensitivity and having a lower detection limit than that required by GB standard,and suitable to be used for analysis of sudan I in foodstuffs.
